‘Hour of Code’ To Get More Women into IT

The local office of Accenture in the Philippines got together with Code.org earlier this year with the objective of supporting Hour of Code. This is among the biggest global educational events and is designed for creating awareness that it is possible for any individual to grasp coding basics.
According to Ambe Tierro, who heads Philippines Accenture Delivery Centers for Technology, technology has changed the way people live and work. This is why it is critical to gauge the interest of students and expose them to the world of high technology, especially code as this is the language powering technology. If students are introduced to coding basics when theyre still young, it is will help them understand things better and also generate an enthusiasm and respect for technology.
The Accenture branch of the Philippines has hosted Hour of Code for the second time and considers it to be among its key efforts in encouraging STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) learning among younger students. The aim is create a pool of talent that specializes in IT and is equipped to tackle the future needs of the IT-BPM industry.
