PARIS, FRANCE — French HR services group HR Path has bought SnapAI, a Paris start-up focused on AI governance and compliance, as employers prepare for European rules that treat AI in hiring and employee management as high-risk. The deal gives HR Path’s consulting and outsourcing clients in-house help to deploy AI within those rules.
Compliance expertise for HR
The European Union’s AI Act, which is being rolled out in phases through 2028, classifies AI used in recruitment, assessment and employee management as high-risk, Staffing Industry Analysts reported. HR Path said SnapAI’s governance and compliance expertise will help clients deploy AI in a way that is both ambitious and controlled.
Terms were not disclosed, and HR Path declined to comment on the price. SnapAI, co-founded by Ahmed Salama and Pierre Soulier, helps organizations identify and understand their AI use cases, and Soulier is joining HR Path as part of the transaction.
AI across advise, implement and outsource
HR Path operates in 34 countries with nearly 2,900 employees and serves clients through three service lines: advise, implement and outsource. It wants AI to run across all three, from AI strategy work in consulting to integrating AI into HR software and automating selected activities in its outsourcing business.
The group has set up a task force dedicated to AI and recently launched an AI offering that covers maturity assessments, use case selection, process redesign and adoption.
“By combining our AI expertise with HR Path’s in-depth knowledge of HR functions, technological expertise and international presence, we will be able to develop new use cases and support organisations much more broadly in this transformation,” Salama and Soulier said.
The deal will also help HR Path speed up the integration of AI across its offerings and develop new uses for HR functions. Founded in 2001, the group has made technology innovation central to its growth. HR Path says AI should reduce repetitive tasks and free up time for higher-value work.
For companies that outsource HR, the deal signals that providers will be expected to show AI compliance, not just AI features. Buyers of HR outsourcing and payroll outsourcing services in Europe should ask how partners classify and document the AI they use in hiring and employee management. Companies comparing AI-focused partners can start with the top AI outsourcing companies.
