J Plazo partners with tech school STI to create jobs
CEBU, PHILIPPINES – Recruitment firm J Plazo Staffing Corporation (J Plazo) has teamed up with STI College Philippines (STI) to create job placement opportunities for the school’s graduates.
In an interview with Outsource Accelerator, J Plazo noted that the main purpose of the partnership is to give STI’s fresh graduates employment opportunities. Specifically, J Plazo wants to participate in the institution’s National Career Fest and Virtual Career Fair (VCF).
STI launched the VCF in the 2020-21 school year, together with other industry partners. The digital fair featured webinars to prepare students to navigate the labor market under the new normal.
While more known for its information technology (IT) programs, STI also offers graduate degrees in business administration, accounting, hospitality management, culinary management, tourism management, multimedia arts, communication, marine transportation, and marine engineering. STI also has a Senior High School program.
J Plazo noted that the partnership will not just focus on one graduate program. Rather, it will combine STI’s offerings depending on the market demand.
In 2021, the Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) said that the Philippines is facing an oversupply of IT graduates by 2025. Specifically, the supply of IT workers will likely surpass demand by 171,960 positions at the end of the period.
