RAS AL KHAIMAH, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES — Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zone (RAKEZ) is courting Irish companies looking for a Gulf expansion base, pitching the emirate’s stability, competitive operating environment and growing investment pipeline as a platform for regional growth.

More than 250 Irish-linked companies already sit inside the economic zone’s business community of over 50,000 companies from close to 200 countries.

RAKEZ courts Irish executives in Dubai

According to IndexBox, which cited TradeArabia News Service, RAKEZ made its case at the annual Rise & Thrive seminar held by the Irish Business Network Dubai, where it also served as a gold sponsor.

The zone’s team addressed senior Irish and Ireland-affiliated executives, entrepreneurs and government representatives during the event’s featured panel, The UAE Advantage.

RAKEZ Group chief executive officer Ramy Jallad said Irish companies considering the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are choosing more than a place to register a company; they are choosing the platform for their next stage of growth.

He said Ras Al Khaimah offers stability, cost competitiveness and the flexibility to build from there while reaching opportunities across the UAE, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and wider markets.

The 250 Irish-linked firms are still a small share of a community of more than 50,000 companies, which leaves the zone clear room to grow the segment it is courting.

Irish firms already operate in the zone

Kelly Steel has expanded its Ras Al Khaimah operations into a substantial manufacturing business, while E+I Engineering established PowerBar Gulf in the emirate before becoming part of global infrastructure company Vertiv.

Jallad said incoming companies join an ecosystem where other Irish firms are already operating and growing, and that there is significant scope for more to bring their capabilities, expertise and investment into the emirate.

Zone representatives also pointed to RAK Central, an emerging mixed-use business district, the Tech Flex technology and innovation ecosystem and the US$5.7 billion Wynn Al Marjan integrated resort as new sources of demand for suppliers, manufacturers and service providers.

For Irish services firms weighing a Gulf presence, the RAKEZ pitch leans on ecosystem and market access rather than registration cost alone, which matters most to companies planning regional sales, shared services or delivery teams.
