BPO Tower to usher 4,000 IT jobs in CDO

4000 IT jobs will soon be available soon with the opening of the eight-floor BPO tower as part of the SM Cagayan de Oro Downtown Premier.
The opening of this tower will secure CDO’s reputation as an IT-BPO hub.
Among the conditions included in the PEZA (Philippine Economic Zone Authority) accreditation of the tower is requiring SM prime holdings Inc. and all its BPO/IT lessees to hire 4,000 of their staff from CDO residents.
The chairman of the committee on Trade and commerce said CDO could generate more than 40,000 jobs from the BPO tower,
The commercial establishments will continue to pay all local government taxes and the Real Property Tax on the spaces for establishments not qualified for PEZA registration. SM’s incentive will be limited to the income from leasing out spaces to PEZA registered companies. The income from this will be subject to the special 5% tax in place of the national and local taxes.
Right now, there are 15 BPO companies operating in CDO. The city has been included in the “next wave cities”.
The very first premier mall in the city will include 5 floors and will also feature a rainwater catchment system for flood prevention.
