DSWD, Qualfon ink partnership agreement

In a bid to provide job opportunities to marginalized sectors, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has partnered with Qualfon Philippines, one of the country’s biggest business process outsourcing (BPO) firms. The partnership is part of the implementation of DSWD’s Sustainable Livelihood Program, a community-based capacity building program that seeks to improve the socio-economic status of its participants through skills training, A seed capital fund, pre-employment assistance, and cash for building livelihood assets. The partnership’s memorandum of understanding was signed by DSWD-7 Regional Director Evelyn Macapobre, Qualfon Philippines Cebu Site Director Steve Brown, Qualfon Dumaguete Site Director David Jackson, and Qualfon Education and Community Relations Director Joslyn Canon. The agreement stipulates the provision for call center training and pre-employment screening and processing of DSWD’s SLP participants, including beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilya Pilipino Program and those listed under the National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction.
