Servinform to cut about 10% of Spain staff after Endesa loss

- Servinform plans a collective dismissal of about 10% of Servinform SAU staff.
- Most of its services for Endesa were awarded to new providers.
- More than 300 Endesa-account staff were relocated or redeployed.
- Nearly 300 remaining staff continue working until Dec. 31.
MADRID, SPAIN — Services company Servinform will begin a collective dismissal process affecting about 10% of the staff of Servinform SAU in Spain after losing most of its work for Endesa, its largest account by volume. The cuts will fall on staff at work centers in different parts of Spain.
Endesa work goes to new providers
The redundancy plan will be concentrated at the Spanish centers of Servinform SAU, with the 10% threshold applied only to that company’s headcount and not to the group’s global total, the company said in a statement reported by Forbes España. The process will affect only positions on projects that are closing or have ended, plus about 20 workers hit by a decline in other services.
The services for Endesa were Servinform’s largest by volume and accounted for a substantial part of its operating structure. The company said they were awarded to new providers under the sector’s usual tendering and pricing dynamics, not because of its quality or service levels, and that it keeps four other active services for Endesa.
More than 300 staff relocated
More than 300 professionals from the Endesa services have moved to one of the new contract holders or been redeployed by Servinform. Most of the nearly 300 remaining staff will keep working normally until Dec. 31, and those whose activity falls will get specific training, fully paid by the company, to improve their chances of redeployment.
Servinform described the BPO and contact center sector as facing high competitive pressure and a structural transformation of its model, driven by market demand for ever more efficient structures. A negotiating table with workers’ legal representatives will be formed in the coming weeks, opening the formal negotiation period in which the final number of affected employees will be set.
The company said the process will not alter its day-to-day operations. In recent months it has won renewals from Leroy Merlin, Canal de Isabel II, Seville’s 010 service and Emasesa, as well as new business including Catalonia’s citizen helpline.
For buyers of call center services, the case shows how tender-driven price competition can move large volumes between providers, and how much of a vendor’s structure can rest on a single client. Companies running business process outsourcing (BPO) tenders can ask bidders about client concentration and staff transition plans, and compare providers on the top BPO companies worldwide list.
