PUP, Huawei Sign Deal On ICT Cooperation

Chinese technology company Huawei has partnered with the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) to provide students with access to high-end information and communications technology (ICT). Huawei will provide the PUP with training, ICT laboratory equipment, ICT courses and an open lab, as outlined in the newly signed memorandum of agreement. The PUP and Huawei will also work together on the establishment of a digital academy, research projects, and a joint study to boost internet connectivity in the PUP’s main campus and its branches.
Huawei Digital Academy, which is a partnership between Huawei and universities around the world, will also provide Huawei ICT technologies training, which allows students to get certification and develop local talents with practical skills for the ICT industry and community. Alan Liguodong, Huawei Philippines delivery and service head, said they seek to provide Filipino students with the chance to obtain ICT career certifications based on industry-leading technologies and global practices. According to Emanuel de Guzman, PUP president, the partnership will give both the students and faculty an opportunity to hone their capabilities in technology.
