TCS set to further reduce headcount
Global IT and outsourcing services giant TCS is likely to reduce its headcount further after losing some 46,000 employees last year, according to reports. Chief Operating Officer NG Subramaniam said the company will not fire anyone but will be hiring less. The decline in headcount last year was due to attrition and Subramanian said TCS needed to manage attrition by continuing to up-skill their existing people. As of 30 June, TCS employee count stood at 385,809. Last week, TCS shut down its Lucknow development center, but none of the 2,000 employees have been asked to leave. However, employees who do not wish to change cities, might be forced to quit and the company is yet to announce a severance package for them.
